The Brewers exercised the club option for manager Ned Yost for 2006. The Brewers are 52-54 this season, Yost's third as manager. He has a 187-242 record overall with Milwaukee, which hasn't had a winning season since 1992. "Ned's work ethic, communication with both players and front office and his passion to have the Brewers succeed have not changed since the day he took this job," general manager Doug Melvin said in a statement Monday. "To be able to blend young, less-experienced talent with experienced players and stay the path of winning games is a tough assignment." Before coming to the Brewers, the 49-year-old Yost spent a dozen years on the Atlanta Braves' coaching staff, where he was the bullpen coach from 1991-98 and the third base coach from 1999-2002. He also managed in Atlanta's minor league system, compiling a 197-223 record with Class A Sumter of the South Atlantic League from 1988-90.
