The Rangers placed right-hander A.J. Griffin on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with right shoulder stiffness.

Griffin left in the third inning Saturday at Detroit with stiffness in his throwing shoulder. He was pulled with two outs in the third after throwing 53 pitches, ending a streak of 33 starts in which he had completed at least five innings. He allowed three runs and four hits, walking three and striking out two.

"The shoulder's a little sore right now, but had some tightness out there, couldn't get extended and couldn't get the pitches to do what I wanted to do," Griffin said Saturday.
