Bartolo Colon slugged the Mets to a 6-3 victory against the Padres on Saturday at Petco Park.

Yoenis Cespedes and Colon each delivered two-run homers against right-hander James Shields as the Mets built a 4-0 lead. Jon Jay answered with a three-run shot against Colon in the third, but the Mets held on to snap a modest two-game losing streak.

Colon (42 years, 349 days) became the oldest player ever to produce his first career home run. He unseated Randy Johnson, whose lone major league homer came at age 40 years, 9 days old with the Diamondbacks in 2003.
