Zack Greinke has opted out of his contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers and become a free agent.

Greinke opted out of the remaining three years and $71 million of a contract he signed with the Dodgers in 2012, but he likely will earn significantly more than that this offseason.

The right-hander was among 12 additional players who became free agents, the Major League Baseball Players Association, raising the total to 151. He had the right to terminate the contract within three days of the end of the 2015 World Series.
