As the federal investigation into the St. Louis Cardinals continues for hacking into the computer database of the Houston Astros, the player's union has an interest to learn whether any information obtained may have affected a player's market.

If the Astros kept notes on free agents -- in terms of how they valued them, etc. -- the Cardinals could have used that information to adjust bids accordingly.

"As you know that investigation is ongoing," union head Tony Clark said. "We've have been connected to baseball throughout and we'll have an understanding or appreciation once that investigation completes itself as to what all happened there. We have bits and pieces and some understanding, but at this point in time, from what we understand, that concern isn't there (that a market was manipulated). Doesn't mean it may not be there when all is said and done, based on the information we get, but right now it's not there."
