Justin Upton is believed to be the best hitter available on the trade market and he has drawn interest from the Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners and Kansas City Royals.

The San Diego Padres could sell off some of the pieces they added this past winter amid a disappointing season. Upton could fetch a nice haul to help rebuild a farm system that has been depleted.

"A Sean Newcomb for Justin Upton deal could make sense for both the Angels and Padres. The Angels would get another big bat to put behind Mike Trout and Albert Pujols and have the means to re-sign Upton to a long-term deal, while the Padres would get a controllable No. 2 or 3 starter once Newcomb fully develops his breaking ball," writes Jim Bowden.
