Mark Teixeira hit a grand slam off of Felix Hernandez in the fifth inning on Monday night.

Hernandez has dominated against the New York Yankees recently, but struggled against Teixeira.

The Seattle Mariners right-hander was 3-0 with a 1.49 ERA in his last five starts against the Yankees before Monday night.

"Give our hitters credit. We didn't swing at the bad pitches when [Hernandez] threw them," Teixeira said. "We made the adjustments and it's not because he didn't have his stuff tonight. It's just it was moving so much and the pitch that he threw me -- the 2-0 change-up -- he probably thought he'd get me out front, but I put a good swing on it."

Over his career, Teixeira is 20-for-66 (.303) with four doubles, six home runs and 13 RBIs against Hernandez. The six home runs are the most the pitcher has allowed to any one hitter.

"I think it's a lot of luck," Teixeira said. "He's a great pitcher and I've faced him so much, there's very few guys for 10-plus years that you face on a regular basis. He's one of them. I just got a couple good pitches to hit."
