Derek Holland said the homophobic slur that appeared on his Twitter account during Sunday night's game with the Angels was the result of a hacker.

Holland, who by MLB rules is not allowed to tweet within 30 minutes of the first pitch and during games, was told of the tweets after the game.

He was on the mound for nearly seven innings and didn't know anyone was sending a tweet out from his account.

"It's obvious it was not me," Holland said. "It was during the game, for one. And for two, I'm in the dugout cheering my teammates on. Why would I say anything like that to begin with?"
