After insisting that Chase Utley would likely be ready on Opening Day, the Phillies are no longer denying that his career may be in jeopardy. Ruben Amaro Jr. admitted on Monday that Utley is dealing with a chronic soreness in both knees. Issues with the right knee had been known. "I worry about Chase because it's a chronic problem," Amaro said when asked if he was worried about Utley's long-term future. "About his career? I don't know." Utley sat out the first two months of the 2011 season because of knee issues. "If he doesn't play again that would be something horrible," said Jimmy Rollins, Utley's longtime double-play partner. "That would be horrible. But I don't see it that way. At least I hope that's not the case."
