The Cardinals have signed second baseman Skip Schumaker to a two-year, $3 million deal.
In a related move, they did not tender a contract to infielder Ryan Theriot before Monday night's deadline.
Schumaker, 31, batted .283 in 117 games for St. Louis this year and hit .381 in the postseason.
