Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner allowed two hits in eight scoreless innings and struck out 11 batters on Wednesday night. He now owns a 3.83 strikeout-to-walk ratio (157 K's and 41 walks) this season. For any pitcher since 1893 in his age-21 season or younger, that strikeout-to-walk ratio would be the fourth best in baseball history. Only Bret Saberhagen (4.16 in 1985), Don Sutton (4.02 in '66), and Dwight Gooden (3.88 in '85) posted better rates over the course of a season.
