The Yankees will return to a 12-man pitching staff when third baseman Alex Rodriguez is activated from the disabled list. New York has carried 13 pitchers on their roster since Ivan Nova was recalled on June 30, using a six-man starting rotation and a seven-man bullpen. Hector Noesi is the likely candidate to be sent down. "We don't necessarily have a real long guy; it's been a while since Noesi threw 60 pitches," manager Joe Girardi said. "Before, he was more of a long guy. He could probably give you 50 and I feel the other guys could probably give you 35-40. You're going to need some distance out of your starters that week."
