Yankees manager Joe Girardi opted to sit Alex Rodriguez on June 19 against the Marlins after meeting with general manager Brian Cashman and the third baseman. The plan was for Rodriguez to sit at least two games, but he ended up appearing as a pinch hitter the next night in a 2-1 loss. Heading into his pinch hit appearance on June 20, Rodriguez was hitting just .212 and many questioned whether or not he rushed back from spring hip surgery. However, in the ten games since his day of rest, including the one at-bat he had on June 20, Rodriguez is definitely showing signs of a resurgence at the plate. A-Rod is hitting .355 (11-for-31) since his day off, with four home runs and fifteen RBI. He has also worked eleven walks, while striking out just five times. The Yankees are 7-3 in their last ten games, and haven't trailed since last Wednesday against the Braves.
