Romero will miss the first 50 games of the 2009 season after purchasing a legal supplement and unwittingly ingesting a chemical compound that urinalysis revealed to have contained the infamous steroid precursor androstenedione. Romero claims he shouldn't be held responsible for a substance that wasn't listed as an ingredient on the label.
