Choo Isn't Concerned About Upcoming Free Agency

Shin-Soo Choo resisted offers to re-sign with the Indians and insists that he isn't thinking about his pending free agency as he enjoys his time with the Reds.

"A lot of people ask me: 'Do you want to stay in Cincinnati? What do you want?'" Choo said.

"That's too far away. We're not at the end of the season; we're not at the end of the first half yet. I know why I'm here. Cincinnati gave up two good players, and they want to win a World Series. That's what I want, too. I've never played in the playoffs. I have a good opportunity to play with a good team."

Mets Trying To Delay Wheeler's Arbitration Eligibility

According to a team insider, it's important for the New York Mets to avoid an extra year of arbitration eligibility for pitching prospect Zack Wheeler.

In March, an executive with another club estimated a team would need to wait until June 15 to call up a prospect in order to delay arbitration eligibility by a year.

The Mets, internally, right now estimate the imprecise date a little sooner -- from the final days of May to as late as June 10.

Shelby Miller Quietly Comparable To Matt Harvey

St. Louis Cardinals rookie Shelby Miller retired the final 27 batters on Friday night against the Colorado Rockies after allowing a single to begin the game.

He's just the fifth pitcher since 1961 to accomplish the feat.

New York Mets right-hander Matt Harvey has received most of the attention as the game's best rookie hurler, but Miller has comparable numbers.

Miller: 5-2, 1.58 ERA, 45.2 IP, 29 H, 3 HR, 11 BB, 51 SO, .179 AVG
Harvey: 4-0, 1.44 ERA, 56.1 IP, 27 H, 3 HR, 14 BB, 62 SO, .142 AVG
