Aaron Judge Ejected For First Time

May 5, 2024 1:25 AM

Aaron Judge has accomplished plenty during his nine-year major league career. The five-time All-Star set the American League record for home runs in a season in 2022. He won the AL MVP award. He was named the 16th captain in New York Yankees history.

And not once in his first 869 career games was the 32-year-old slugger ever ejected.

That streak, though, ended Saturday at Yankee Stadium.

Judge was tossed for the first time leading off the seventh inning after arguing a called third strike in the Yankees' eventual 5-3 win over the Detroit Tigers.

Jan 16, 2024 8:31 AM

The Detroit Tigers and Casey Mize are headed to arbitration over a very small difference in salary figures.

Mize asked for $840,000, while the Tigers were looking to pay the pitcher $815,000.

Two Former Scouts Sue Tigers Alleging Age Discrimination

Jan 2, 2024 7:43 AM

Two former Detroit Tigers scouts have sued the club, alleging age discrimination over their terminations after the 2020 season.

Gary Pellant and Randall Johnson filed the suit last week in U.S. District Court in Detroit, claiming a shift toward analytics was accompanied by a "false stereotype" that older scouts lacked acumen for newer scouting tools.

They claim wrongful termination and post-termination employment interference in violation of the Age Discrimination and Enforcement Act of 1967 and violations of the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, a Michigan law that took effect in 1977. They also alleged disparate treatment age discrimination and/or disparate impact age discrimination in violation of the Elliott-Larsen act.

They asked for back pay, front pay, and compensatory and punitive damages.
