Paul Lo Duca was thrilled to catch Tom Glavine's 300th win. It nearly didn't happen, though. Lo Duca talked his way into last night's lineup during an intense conversation with Willie Randolph in the visitors' dugout before batting practice that the catcher estimated lasted a half-hour. "What are you --- doing to me? If you want me to be the backup, that's fine," observers heard Lo Duca telling his manager. Lo Duca had insisted since Tuesday that he was ready to return from a hamstring injury. Randolph kept suggesting the catcher wasn't close to 100%. He had planned to sit Lo Duca for a seventh straight game last night. "Willie said, 'Well, go ahead, punch me in the face, because I'm not going to play you,'" Lo Duca recalled. "I got upset a little bit. I talked to him about it. I understand where he was coming from. But I asked him what it would be like when you were a player - 'Would you want to play in my situation?' ... We talked it out a little bit and I'm in there.
