Addison Reed had a rookie-record 29 saves for the Chicago White Sox in 2012.

He will be mixing in a slider more this season. He threw six sliders and nine fastballs on Monday in his 15-pitch save against the Kansas City Royals.

"It felt good. It's just that I was yanking off on it," Reed said. "I know exactly what I was doing. It felt good in the 'pen.

"When I got out there on the mound in the game situation, I was trying to do too much. Just transfer what I'm doing in the bullpen to the mound, and I think everything will be fine."
