Chad Tracy arrived in camp Monday with position security and the prospect of financial security. The Diamondbacks and Tracy?s agent, Alan Nero, are in preliminary discussions about a contract extension that could cover most of Tracy?s arbitration years. ?We?re in the very early stages of trying to come to some sort of long-term agreement. We?re exchanging proposals,?? Nero said. ?I love Arizona, I love the Diamondbacks and I love our fans. It would be nice to settle in. I like these guys. It almost feels like we are a family,?? Tracy added. Tracy had a breakout season in 2005, his second in the major leagues, hitting .308 with 27 home runs and 72 RBIs despite moving from first base to the outfield to accommodate personnel moves. He had 19 homers from July forward.
