The Tampa Bay Rays clinched their first-ever playoff berth on Saturday night with a 7-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. The Rays also hold a 2 1/2 game lead over the Red Sox for first place in the AL East with a week left in the regular season. Pitcher Scott Kazmir, who earned the win on Saturday night, looks like a genius after proclaiming in the spring that Tampa Bay was good enough to play in October. "I knew we had something here. I knew we had the depth. I knew we had the pitching," Kazmir said. "I knew we had everything. We just had to put it together, and we did." The Rays had the worst record in the majors last year (66-96). "This is pure emotion -- a team, an organization that has been challenged, that has been questioned, and we've answered all the questions," Team President Matt Silverman said. "And now, it's time to move on and see where else we go can go."
