Joba Chamberlain went six strong innings against the Astros on Friday night as the Yankees won for the third time in four games. Chamberlain threw 88 pitches, allowing just one run on six hits. He walked four, with two intentional trips called by Manager Joe Girardi. He struck out two batters over the six innings. New York and Houston were knotted at 1-1 when Joba exited after the sixth inning well before Derek Jeter propelled the Yankees to victory with an eighth-inning home run. Jose Veras and Kyle Farnsworth closed the door on the victory, pitching three shutout innings to help the Bombers record the win. The start marked the first time Joba was able to get into the sixth inning as his career as a starter is just a little more than a week old. He is 0-0 and has allowed four earned runs in 12 2/3 innings as a starter for New York.
