Joba Chamberlain threw 78 pitches against the Royals on Sunday afternoon pitching well, as the Yankees won 6-3 at home. He lasted 4 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits and one walk. He also struck out five batters in his second starting appearance. Kansas City scored an unearned run while Joba was on the mound, as well. New York rallied in the later innings to earn the win, giving reliever Dan Giese his first Major League victory. Jason Giambi blasted a solo shot off Zach Greinke in the sixth inning to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead as they never looked back.
