Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers has been named the Sharp Presents the American League Player of the Month for May. This his second straight monthly honor. In 28 games last month, Hamilton batted .322 (37-for-115) with eight home runs and an A.L.-high 29 RBI. The 27-year-old outfielder scored 22 runs and posted a .617 slugging percentage. He collected 16 extra- base hits, including six doubles and two triples. He walked eight times and had a .360 on-base percentage. Lance Berkman of the Houston Astros has been named the Sharp Presents the National League Player of the Month for May. The switch-hitting slugger hit .471 (49-104), with 11 doubles, a triple, nine home runs, 22 RBI, and 31 runs scored in May. His .471 batting average, .553 on-base percentage, 49 hits, and 85 total bases led the Majors and his 21 extra-base hits tied for the M.L. lead. The four-time All-Star posted 16 multi-hit games and five multi-RBI performances. On May 6th vs. Washington, Lance collected a career-high five hits and four runs scored, along with two doubles and an RBI. Lance was named Player of the Week for May 5-11, during which he hit .682 (15-22). Berkman compiled a 17-game hitting streak that extended from 4/30-5/18, during which he hit .545 (36-66).
