The first four players drafted on Monday night in the first round of baseball's First-Year Player Draft were all pitchers for the first time in history.
Of the first 20 picks, 12 were pitchers.
Nineteen pitchers -- 13 right-handers and six left-handers -- went in the first round, a total one shy of the record set in 1999 and equaled in 2001.

Major League Baseball will hold its First-Year Player Draft on Monday night, with the Pirates, Mariners and Diamondbacks holding the first three selections.
The Nationals held the first overall pick in back-to-back years, drafting pitcher Stephen Strasburg (2009) and hitter Bryce Harper (2010) to fortify their future.
