Josh Hamilton Gets Probation In Daughter-Assault Case

Feb 23, 2022 7:46 AM

Josh Hamilton pleaded guilty Tuesday to a misdemeanor in a case arising from an altercation with his teenage daughter, according to officials.

Hamilton, 40, pleaded guilty Tuesday to unlawful restraint under a plea deal that dismisses a 2020 felony indictment for injury to a child.

The former Texas Rangers star was sentenced to one year of deferred probation, fined him $500 and ordered him to pay court costs, do community service and attend parenting and anger management classes. Thomas ordered him not to consume alcohol, be subject to random urine drug tests and have no contact with the daughter he restrained. If he satisfies the probation's requirements, the charge will be dismissed.

Former Angels Staffer Found Guilty In Tyler Skaggs' Death

Feb 18, 2022 8:23 AM

A federal jury has found former Los Angeles Angels communications director Eric Kay guilty on two felony counts, agreeing with the government that he distributed fentanyl and caused the death of Tyler Skaggs.

Kay, who won't be sentenced until June 28, faces a minimum of 20 years in prison.

Skaggs, 27, died July 1, 2019, while on a team trip to Texas after ingesting oxycodone, fentanyl and alcohol. Kay had admitted to providing oxycodone to Skaggs and the other players, but the defense said the two men were simply fellow addicts with an agreement that Skaggs would pay for their drugs and Kay would handle transactions.

Trevor Bauer Won't Face Criminal Charges

Feb 9, 2022 7:53 AM

Trevor Bauer will not be criminally charged by Los Angeles prosecutors.

The ruling concludes a five-month review of the case, which stems from sexual assault allegations made against Bauer by a woman who sought a restraining order against him in June.

Bauer, who spent the final three months of the 2021 season on administrative leave, still faces potential discipline from Major League Baseball.
