Mets' Luis Rojas Gets Two-Game Suspension, Fine

Jul 20, 2021 8:26 AM

New York Mets manager Luis Rojas has been suspended for two games and fined for excessive arguing with umpires on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Rojas began serving his suspension before Monday night's 15-11 win at the Cincinnati Reds.

"I'm a little upset that I'm going to be missing the next two games," Rojas said. "I missed the team for 8 2/3 (innings) yesterday, not getting to watch from the dugout. But the league's got to do what they gotta do. We know how sometimes things get heated up."

Hector Santiago's 10-Game Suspension Upheld

Jul 16, 2021 8:02 AM

Hector Santiago's 10-game suspension for having a foreign substance on his glove has been upheld after an appeal, according to sources.

Santiago is the first and only pitcher so far to be ejected and subsequently suspended after Major League Baseball's crackdown on pitchers using sticky substances on baseballs.

The Mariners will not be able to fill Santiago's roster spot for the entirety of his 10-game suspension, per MLB's rules on pitchers using foreign substances.
