  • The New York Mets announced LHP Tommy Milone has elected free agency.
  • The New York Yankees announced manager Joe Girardi will not return next season.
  • The San Francisco Giants announced hitting coach Hensley Meulens will become the bench coach; bench coach Ron Wotus will become the third base coach; and assistant hitting coach Steve Decker will become a special assistant, baseball operations. Named Matt Herges bullpen coach. Announced third base coach Phil Nevin will not return for 2018. Named Dave Righetti special assistant to the general manager. Announced Mark Gardner will have a special assignment role for pitching development and evaluation.

  • The New York Mets announced they will purchase the Syracuse Chiefs (IL).
  • The Texas Rangers announced RHP Paulo Espino, INF Phil Gosselin, OF Jared Hoying and INF Will Middlebrooks cleared waivers and assigned them outright to Round Rock (PCL). Gosselin and Middlebrooks declined the outright assignments and elected to become free agents.

  • The Chicago Cubs claimed RHP Luke Farrell off waivers from Cincinnati.
  • The Chicago White Sox assigned C Rob Brantly; RHPs Brad Goldberg and Chris Volstad; LHP David Holmberg and OF Rymer Liriano outright to Charlotte (IL). Announced Goldberg will remain in the organization as a non-roster player and Brantly, Holmberg, Liriano and Volstad will become minor-league free agents.
  • The Los Angeles Angels announced hitting coach Dave Hansen will not return next season.
  • The Texas Rangers fired bullpen coach Brad Holman. Exercised their 2019 contract option on manager Jeff Banister. Announced first base coach Hector Ortiz will become the bullpen coach and remain the team's catching instructor.

  • The Boston Red Sox announced the resignation of Red Sox Foundation executive director Gena Borson, effective at the end of the year.
  • The Milwaukee Brewers purchased a full ownership stake in the Carolina Mudcats (Carolina).
  • The New York Mets named Terry Collins special assistant to the general manager. Announced pitching coach Dan Warthen and trainer Ray Ramirez will not return next season and Warthen has been offered another role in the organization.
  • The Seattle Mariners reassigned third base coach Manny Acta to bench coach, assistant coach Scott Brosius to third base coach, special projects coach Chris Prieto to first base coach. Retained hitting coach Edgar Martinez, pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre Jr. and bullpen coach Nasusel Cabrera; Cabrera in a to-be-determined position. Announced bench coach Tim Bogar and first base coach Casey Candaele will not return.
  • The St. Louis Cardinals announced the contracts of pitching coach Derek Lilliquist and bullpen coach Blaise Ilsley will not be renewed.
