The Opsera is a statistic RealGM Executive Editor Chris Reina created in order to objectively rank teams by how well they hit (OPS) and pitch (ERA).

In order to determine the Opsera rating for each, we take their OPS, multiply that number by 10 to move the decimal point over one place to the right and then subtract their ERA from that number.

All Statistics are through Sunday,May 31st. Last week's rankings are in parenthesis.

1. (1) Los Angeles Dodgers – 4.68

The boys in blue seem to have everyone's number, except for the Cardinals and Giants.

2. (2) St. Louis – 4.59

The Cardinals have the largest lead of any division leader in the Major Leagues. They continue to have the best pitching staff.

3. (3) Kansas City – 4.03

The Royals are 19-0 when they score six or more runs.

4. (6) Pittsburgh – 3.99

The Pirates have been getting better every week. Their solid pitching staff is led by Gerrit Cole and Francisco Liriano, who have been keeping opposing teams in check. That helps when you have trouble scoring runs.
