The Opsera is a statistic RealGM Executive Editor Chris Reina created in order to objectively rank teams by how well they hit (OPS) and pitch (ERA).

In order to determine the Opsera rating for each, we take their OPS, multiply that number by 10 to move the decimal point over one place to the right and then subtract their ERA from that number.

All statistics are through Monday May 11. Last week's rankings are in parentheses.

1. (1) Los Angeles Dodgers – 5.11

Joc Pederson led the Dodgers as they remain in the top spot. Finding a long-term No. 5 starter may be the only question mark.

2. (2) St. Louis – 4.76
The pitching started to show some holes towards the end of the week, but the bats stayed hot. Matt Holliday leads the way with a .343 batting average, 17 RBI and a .935 OPS.

The Royals have been lukewarm over their last 10 games (6-4), but are back in first place in the American League Central.
