RealGM.com Team Rankings For The Week Of September 23rd By Andrew Perna The Opsera is a statistic RealGM Executive Editor Chris Reina created in order to objectively rank teams by how well they hit (OPS) and pitch (ERA). In order to determine the Opsera rating for each, we take their OPS, multiply that number by 10 to move the decimal point over one place to the right and then subtract their ERA from that number. Below are the rankings through the Thursday, September 22nd games: The rankings from last week are in parenthesizes. 1. (1) New York Yankees - 4.21 Despite a patchwork rotation behind CC Sabathia, the Yankees are cruising towards the postseason with another division title wrapped up. 2. (3) Texas Rangers - 4.11 The Rangers have won eight of their last ten games as they are hot at the right time. 3. (2) Philadelphia Phillies - 4.10 Philadelphia has already clinched the best record in the National League, but they are limping into October. 4. (4) Boston Red Sox - 3.95 The Red Sox are choking, there is no doubt about it, but all will be forgotten when the playoffs begin and only three starting pitchers are required. 5.
