Chicago White Sox designated hitter Eloy Jimenez underwent an appendectomy on Saturday night at Cincinnati's Good Samaritan Hospital after suffering from abdominal pain overnight.

Jimenez is expected to miss 4-6 weeks, according to a team press release.

The 26-year-old had appeared in 25 games prior to this weekend. He was hitting .258/.321/.423 (103 OPS+) with four home runs and 15 runs batted in across 106 plate appearances.
