The New York Mets are hiring Carlos Beltran as a special assistant to general manager Billy Eppler, according to a source.

Beltran, 45, will be leaving the YES Network, for which he served as a color commentator on New York Yankees games during the 2022 season.

He served as a special assistant to Brian Cashman with the Yankees during the 2019 season.

The Mets previously named Beltran their manager, but the sides parted ways after his role in the Houston Astros' sign-stealing scandal came to light.
