Framber Valdez pitched his first career shutout in the Houston Astros' 7-0 win over the Detroit Tigers on Monday night.

Valdez also notched his 24th straight quality start, tying Jacob deGrom (2018) for the longest single-season streak.

"This means a lot to me, because it means I'm helping the team when I'm pitching," Valdez said through an interpreter. "They help me with their great defense and their offense, and I know I'm giving them a chance to win."

The left-hander is 15-5 with a 2.50 ERA and 169 strikeouts in 27 starts (179 2/3 innings) this season.
