Andrew Benintendi has a fracture of the hamate bone in his right wrist and will require surgery.

There's no immediate word on how long he'll be out of the lineup for the New York Yankees, but the rest of the regular season is a possibility.

Benintendi left Friday's game in the third inning after irritating his wrist on a swing.

The Yankees acquired the outfielder from the Kansas City Royals at the trade deadline.
