Seattle Mariners pitcher Hector Santiago has received a 10-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for possessing a foreign substance on his glove at the end of the fifth inning of his club's Sunday, June 27th game against the Chicago White Sox, Major League Baseball has announced in a statement.

The suspension won't begin immediately as Santiago has elected to appeal. The discipline will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.

Santiago was the first Major League player ejected under baseball's stricter enforcing of the rules against foreign substances to help grip the baseball.
