Veteran Major League catcher Francisco Cervelli has announced his retirement after 13 seasons.

Cervelli, 34, made the announcement on Instagram.

He hit .245 as the primary catcher for the Miami Marlins this season before he was placed on the injured list in August with a concussion. It was his seventh documented concussion in the Major Leagues.

Cervelli also played for the New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates and Atlanta Braves.
