The Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers announced positive coronavirus tests within their organizations on Wednesday.

Al Avila said one Tigers player and one staff member have tested positive for COVID-19.

"They're going through the process, obviously, of recovering as we speak," Avila said. "It was just recently, a few days ago, so they're still in the recovery stages, and at some point they'll be tested again."

Jerry Dipoto said a few Mariners players have tested positive but declined to specify the number or whether they are part of Seattle's 40-man roster.

Chaim Bloom said one player on Boston's 40-man roster was diagnosed with the coronavirus after being exposed while in his hometown.
