Major League Baseball and the Players Association are again at odds following a face-to-face meeting between Rob Manfred and Tony Clark.

There had been optimism about a potential return-to-play deal between the sides.

While the league proposed a 60-game season and believed an agreement was imminent, players Wednesday said they view the proposed schedule as too short.

The conversation between Manfred and Clark centered on a 60-game season that would start July 19 or 20 and end Sept. 27, according to sources. Players would be paid their full prorated salaries.
