The New York Yankees have shut down Luis Severino after he reported right forearm discomfort, which appears to date back to last October.

Severino was scratched from throwing his second bullpen session in camp and didn't take part in fielding drills on Thursday.

Brian Cashman said Severino had two MRIs -- one in December and another in January -- and a CT scan after complaining of discomfort, and all tests have been negative.

The Yankees haven't ruled out Severino beginning the season on the injured list.
