The Yankees are reportedly acting on their goal for this offseason so far -- to sign right-hander Gerrit Cole, one of the game's elite starting pitchers and the top starter on this year's free-agent market.

According to the New York Times' Bob Klapisch, New York has put forth a seven-year, $245 million offer for Cole just ahead of the Winter Meetings, which get underway Monday in San Diego.
