The St. Louis Cardinals scored six runs over the final two innings to mount a comeback and take Game 1 of the NLDS against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday night.

Trailing 3-1 entering the eighth, the Cardinals got a solo home run from Paul Goldschmidt and an RBI single from Matt Carpenter. In the ninth, they took control with two-run doubles by Marcell Ozuna and Kolten Wong.

The Braves plated three runs in the bottom of the ninth on home runs from Ronald Acuna, Jr. and Freddie Freeman. Down a run and with two outs to work with, Atlanta saw Josh Donaldson ground out and Nick Markakis strike out looking to end the game.

Neither team pitched particularly well with Dallas Keuchel allowing five runs in 4.2 innings, Carlos Martinez surrendering three runs in 1.1 innings, Luke Jackson giving up two runs in two-thirds of an inning and Mark Melancon allowing four runs over three outs.

Brian Snitker called on Chris Martin in the eighth, but the right-hander left without throwing a pitch (left oblique). That forced Jackson into the game.

Game 2 will take place on Friday afternoon with Jack Flaherty on the mound for St. Louis and Mike Foltynewicz representing Atlanta.
