CC Sabathia became the 17th member of the 3,000-strikeout club on Tuesday night and we likely won't have to wait long for another pitcher to join the elusive group.

Justin Verlander entered Wednesday just 241 strikeouts away from 3,000, a mark he'll most likely hit early next season.

Max Scherzer, Verlander's former teammate with the Detroit Tigers, needs 497 strikeouts to reach the mark and stands as Verlander's closest competition.

There are three other pitchers that could be within 500 Ks of 3,000 by the end of the season: Felix Hernandez (2,496), Zack Greinke (2,481), and Cole Hamels (2,452).
