The Minnesota Twins have optioned Miguel Sano to Single-A Fort Myers.

The club hopes the move helps Sano get back on track.

The third baseman is hitting just .203 with seven home runs and 27 RBIs this season.

"We're going to get him down there and give him an opportunity to get things back on track," Paul Molitor said. "We don't feel like we're getting what we need from him, and he's going to have to get down there and get to work."

Sano has also committed four errors in 37 games.

"I'm not mad," he said. "I'm happy, because I know I'm struggling, and [Molitor] gave me an opportunity. There's no reason I can get mad."
