Aaron Judge told reporters that before Wednesday's spring training game he pitched Manny Machado on signing with the New York Yankees next offseason.

"Adding him to our lineup that we already got would be something special," Judge said after the exhibition game between the Yankees and Baltimore Orioles. "I told him he'd look good in pinstripes."

Judge said Machado mostly laughed off the recruiting pitch.

Major League Baseball, however, wasn't happy about the conversation.

"We have been in contact with the Yankees. They communicated to us that Mr. Judge's off the cuff comments were not appropriate and not authorized by the club," the league said in a statement. "They will speak to him to make sure that this does not happen again."

Judge joked last year that Giancarlo Stanton would look good in pinstripes. Several months later, the Yankees traded for the slugger.
