The Toronto Blue Jays and Josh Donaldson have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $23 million deal, according to sources.

The previous record for a one-year arbitration deal was held by Bryce Harper and the Washington Nationals ($21.625M).

Donaldson earned $17 million last year in the final season of a $28.65 million, two-year deal. He will be eligible for free agency after this season.
