Chris Archer's name has come up frequently in trade rumors in recent years, but the Tampa Bay Rays have no plans to deal the right-hander.

Archer is scheduled to make a combined $13.75 million over the next two seasons. His contract also allows the Rays to control him through club options worth $9 million and $11 million in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

Rays general manager Erik Neander told MLB Network Radio that Archer "is one of our core guys" and "exactly the type of player" they need to retain to compete in the future.
