Michael Wacha was struck in the elbow by a foul liner while sitting in the dugout in the sixth inning on Wednesday night.

The St. Louis Cardinals said the right-hander was taken out of the game for precautionary reasons.

"It hit a nerve, and the whole hand went numb. It was a pretty scary feeling, that's for sure," Wacha said. "I'm sure I'll have a little bruise there tomorrow."

Wacha had a bandage wrapped around the elbow but said he felt OK.
