Carlos Marmol, who has struggled to close games for the Cubs this season, has $9.8 million remaining on his contract.

Marmol has three blown saves this season and was at one point given time out of the role to reclaim his effectiveness.

Despite the struggles, Dale Sveum shot down the notion that Chicago would eat a majority of Marmol's salary in a trade.

"We've come to find out that he has trouble with the last three outs," Sveum said. "But somebody has to pitch the other innings, and he's done a pretty good job in that role."
