Yasiel Puig, the top prospect of the Los Angeles Dodgers, was arrested early Sunday in Chattanooga, Tenn., and charged with speeding, reckless driving and driving without proof of insurance.

Puig is on the seven-day disabled list at Double-A Chattanooga with a sprained left thumb.

"We're aware of the situation and we take it very seriously," a Dodgers spokesman said. "We'll be handling discipline internally."

The Dodgers signed Puig, 22, to a seven-year, $42 million contract last June.
