Adrian Gonzalez could be traded to the Dodgers after the team was awarded a waiver claim on the Red Sox first baseman, according to multiple baseball sources.

Boston traded two of their top prospects to San Diego to acquire Gonzalez in December 2010. They then signed him to a seven-year, $154 million extension in April 2011.

The Red Sox wanted to see how much interest there was in Gonzalez and they are likely to ultimately keep him, according to a team source.

However, they are considering all avenues to improve.
